In response to the need to modernize physical servers and operating systems, and in an effort to reduce IT infrastructure costs, increase security and improve system mobility, Lavaton s.r.o. decided to completely transition to a cloud solution.
Main steps of the project:
- Cloud Infrastructure Design and Configuration – A bespoke environment that meets performance, availability and security requirements.
- Full server infrastructure virtualization – All original physical servers and their functions have been completely virtualized and moved to the cloud environment.
- Secure inter-site communication – Deployment of encrypted tunnels (VPN) and security protocols between cloud servers and individual company branches.
- Integration with Microsoft 365 and Azure – Set up full synchronization between Microsoft Office 365, Azure AD and internal systems, ensuring seamless management of identities and access.
- Introduction of encrypted and centralized backup – The entire company was converted to a single backup system that provides automatic, encrypted and centralized backups of all critical data and systems.
Technologies used:
- Microsoft Azure – Cloud platform used to deploy server infrastructure and provide a highly available environment.
- VPN and encrypted tunnels – To ensure confidentiality and data integrity between the cloud and branch offices.
- Microsoft 365 + Azure AD Sync – Connect cloud services with on-premises infrastructure for unified user and service management.
- Cloud-based virtualization of user profiles – For flexible and secure employee access to work environments.
- Centralized Backup – Automated encrypted backups of all key systems and user data for maximum security and recoverability.
Lavaton’s project is an example of how it is possible to efficiently move from traditional infrastructure to a fully virtualised cloud solution without disrupting operations and with long-term benefits for the business.
